LATEST PREVENTION OF STROKE.

A fatty diet affects more than your ability to fit
into your favourite jeans. Research in the
journal Circulation found belly fat increases
your risk of a stroke. To reduce the risk, take a vitamin B
complex every day. Researchers at the Swiss
Cardiovascular Centre in Bern found men
taking a combination of three B vitamins had 40 per
cent lower levels of homocysteine, a substance
linked to stroke risk.

Taking the pills gets easier when you link it with
other daily events, says Cynthia Rand, director
of the Johns Hopkins Centre for Adherence
Research in the US. “Don’t brush your teeth
until you’ve taken your pills,” she suggests. If
you can work it into your routine it will
quickly become
nature.
